Qualifications:

 

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Hold a valid State of NJ Driver’s License with CDL Class B or C license with passenger and school bus endorsements
  3. Driver abstract with good driving record
  4. Department of Transportation physical examination and pass random DOT drug screening tests
  5. Possess the ability to read, write and communicate in English
  6. Be in good physical health and ability to perform tasks contained herein
  7. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education, in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
  8. Provide information that includes current/former employers within the last twenty (20) years in which the employment involved direct contact with children; a written authorization that consents to current and former employers disclosing certain information; and a written statement as to whether the applicant has any employment history regarding child abuse and/or sexual misconduct in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:6-7.6.
  9. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  10. Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  11. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Reports to: Transportation Supervisor or Designee Supervises: None Job Goal: To provide effective and daily uninterrupted bus service to the students in accordance with the policies and procedures of the West Deptford School District.

 

Performance Responsibilities: Overall Responsibilities

  1. Completes all necessary safety inspections prior to each trip/run.
  2. Immediately reports any and all issues/concerns with the mechanical operation of the bus to the Transportation Supervisor.
  3. Reports all accidents immediately to the Transportation Supervisor and the police when necessary.
  4. Follows all traffic rules applicable to school buses (stopping at railroad tracks; using flashers if applicable, transports only authorized students, etc.).
  5. Checks the bus after each run, both at the school and after the last home stop, to ensure that no materials or students are still on the bus.
  6. Closes and locks all doors/windows at the end of each day.
  7. District vans/buses parked at home between runs are not to be used for personal travel. 8. Familiarizes oneself with the location of each stop and the prescribed route to and from that location.
  8. Arrives at the bus stops and the school(s) at the prescribed time. Any major deviation from the times due to any reason should be reported immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
  9. Maintains control of the students at all times to ensure their safety while on the bus. Report any discipline issues immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
  10. Transports students to and from their home or alternative location to and from school in a safe and timely manner.
  11. Performs interior bus cleaning/sanitizing duties daily. Cleans windows and exterior as needed and refuels vehicle if necessary.
  12. Participates in emergency evacuation drills in accordance with Administrative Code and Board Policy and instructs passengers regarding safety regulations and other bus rules.
  13. Completes all training assigned by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with the Policies of the Board of Education and New Jersey Guidelines of Pupil Transportation.
  14. Performs all other tasks or duties assigned by Transportation Supervisor in accordance with the Policies of the Board of Education.
