Reports to:  Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO and ElementaryPrincipals

 

Supervises: Elementary School Staff

 

Job Goal:
                Responsible for certain areas of curriculum and supervises other aspects of

                Preschool Program and other elementary operations as assigned by the Assistant

                Superintendent for HR & CAO and Elementary Principals
 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

Overall responsibilities

1.     Assist with the development and implementation of the preschool budget, preschool program plan, annual

        updates, and professional development plans.

 

2.     Contribute to the development of long-range facilities plans.

 

3.     Supervise registration, recruitment and outreach efforts.

 

4.     Assist with overseeing contractual compliance with private provider and local Head Start agencies.

 

5.     Collaborate and communicate with the school district office of special services.

 

6.   Facilitating transition initiatives in collaboration with Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO and Elementary

      Principals.

 

7.   Meeting regularly with private providers, including local Head Start agencies, to foster collaboration and

      program implementation including, but not limited to, fiscal and curriculum information.

 

8.   Assist with overseeing the implementation of the comprehensive preschool curriculum.

 

9.   Assist in the implementation of the elementary curriculum.

 

            10.   Provide assistance to all staff responsible for the implementation of appropriate early childhood practices

                     within the preschool program.

 

            11.   Administering strategies designed to help teachers and other professionals optimize children’s learning and

                     development in all domains.

 

            12.   Assist with coordinating annual program evaluation.

 

            13.   Ensuring that each private provider and local Head Start agency implements a system for classroom teacher

                     observations.

            14.   Act for the Principal when the Principal is not available.

 

            15.   Act as primary administrator for the computer database management system.

 

            16.   Coordinate all procedures for interim reports and report cards pre-school through fourth grade.

 

            17.   Prepare all necessary materials for Pre-K orientation and beginning of school, including summer mailings and

                     summer newsletter.

 

            18.   Assist the professional staff members in improving their teaching techniques.

 

            19.   Visit classrooms, observe, and assist the Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO and Elementary Principals in

                      the evaluation of the professional staff.

 

            20.   Maintain storage areas and inventories for textbooks/supplies.

 

            21.   After consultation with the Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO orders/reorders and distributes

      Instructional materials and supplies for the school.  Plans for inventory control which will accommodate the

      facilities and needs of his/her individual buildings.

 

            22.   Coordinate a program of field trips, visitations, assemblies, speakers and schoolwide programs.

 

            23.   Oversee the daily check-in of teachers and give substitute teachers the necessary instruction for the day.

 

            24.   Submit reports to the Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO and Elementary Principals as directed.

 

            25.   Be present at after-school and evening activities as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO

        and Elementary Principals.

 

            26.  Oversees truancy.

 

            27.   Prepares in-service agendas to support curriculum and instruction alignment to state standards.

 

            28.   Utilizes Code of Conduct to remedy student discipline.

 

            29.  Perform all other duties and activities as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for HR & CAO and /or    

                  Elementary Principals.

     

Environmental Requirements:

 

The environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive.

1.       Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.

2.       Work conditions are typical office environment temperatures of 65 to 80 degrees.

3.       Work space has typical conditioned airflow ventilation found in a business office environment.

4.       Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment.

5.       Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.

5.       Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.

6.       Heavy computer utilization with ability to observe a computer monitor for hours of the day is required.

7.       Minor standing time for copier utilization from time to time.

8.       Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to move office boxes when necessary.
